Farewell to Gemma
In September, we sadly said goodbye to Gemma, who moved on to new opportunities. We sincerely thank her for her contribution to Cascade and wish her every success in her future endeavours.

From 1 July 2026, Pay Day Super comes into effect. This means:
- Super will no longer be paid quarterly
- Super must be paid within 5 days of paying your employees
We’ve written a detailed article explaining what this means for your business.

How We Are Preparing
We are currently investigating the most efficient ways to help clients stay compliant.
Australian Retirement Trust (formerly SunSuper) has established Beam, which we expect will significantly streamline compliance by integrating with:
- Xero
- Quickbooks Online
- Reckon
A Few Words From the Talent at Beam…
- Calculate, process, and submit super in one place
- Make single batch payments to all employee super funds
- Catch errors before submission with real-time error management
- Receive notifications at every stage (missing payments, underpayments, refunds)
- Make secure payments aligned with ATO obligations
- Benefit from ISO/IEC 27001:2022 accredited security compliance

Accounting System Tips (Please Read!)
We’re seeing some recurring issues that can cause serious downstream problems:
Number Sequences
Avoid customising:
-
Client numbers
-
Invoice numbers
-
Receipt numbers
-
Matter numbers (especially in law firms)
Best practice is to keep these sequential, particularly when integrating with other systems.
Bank Feeds
When processing bank feeds, always MATCH transactions that already exist in the system.
We recently onboarded a new client where bank feeds were added instead of matched, duplicating a significant amount of income. This can have serious tax consequences.
