Reflections on the year that was
2024 has been massive for us at Cascade!
On the business side, we have welcomed several new clients on board and seen several of our clients achieve significant milestones – Congratulations!
Certainly, the biggest highlight for our team personally has been Gemma becoming a Mum, followed by Karen’s big trip.
Karen’s review
What have been your greatest learning experiences from 2024? What do you aspire to in 2025?
Personally, I have had a massive year. I finally took the trip of a lifetime that was cancelled in 2020 and achieved other goals and bucket list items. The payback of having more time off work than usual was challenging, but freeing up my time to do what I really want is an ongoing goal!

A key learning was to do things in Two’s…it moves things forward without sacrificing other things…so much we made a blog post out of it-read more here!
Leadership Lessons from Road Cyclists
Love it or hate it, road cycling is a form of exercise loved by many…
Here are some leadership tips from Ken Warren, a passionate cyclist.
- Is there a clear direction?
- Is leadership shared, at times?
- Do team members have positive and supportive relationships?
- Is everyone considerate of the impact of their performance on others?
- Is there a common understanding and practice of shared norms of behaviour?
- Is there clear, two-way communication?
- Can robust conversations be held when needed?
- Is everyone open to feedback, adjusting their behaviour when needed?
- Are you reaching your agreed destination?

ATO Debts and Collections
The ATO has their cranky pants on like never before. If you have a tax debt, contact us to get a payment plan in place!
Previously, the ATO was somewhat lenient in remitting penalties. This has tightened up significantly, which means we all need to be more diligent about maintaining on-time lodgements.
There is talk about tightening up on remission of interest and also talk about interest on tax debts not being deductible in the future.
Superannuation changes
- From 1 July 2025, superannuation will change to 12%.
- From 1 July 2026, payday super changes the timing of paying superannuation.
Instead of paying superannuation four times a year, it will be paid every pay.
This will have a cash flow impact on some businesses.
Seasons Greetings!

Seasons Greetings from all of us at Cascade Accounting & Tax. We hope you have the opportunity to get some downtime over the Christmas season and spend time with those who matter most to you.
Thank you for your support in 2024 and we look forward to a happy and prosperous 2025!
